This weekend at the Pennsylvania 500 (which I was at by the way) at Pocono Raceway, a new rivalry in NASCAR was born. Early in the race, Tony Stewart intentionally turned into Clint Bowyer, wrecking Bowyer and sending him into Carl Edwards. The incident ruined the days of Bowyer and Edwards, and most likely ends Edwards' chance at making the Chase for the Cup. Edwards was very unhappy about the incident and as they were pulling into pit road on the next caution, Edwards waved his hands as if to say "What was that for?". Stewart gave Edwards the finger, annoying Edwards to the point that Edwards wrecked Stewart on pit road. After the race, Edwards apologized, saying that he should not have wrecked Stewart for he put pit crew members in danger. He did not have any apologies for Stewart however. Stewart was totally unapologetic after the race but then a day late came out with a apology.
Now for me being a Carl Edwards fan and being at the race, this whole debacle really got me pissed at Stewart. People say "Oh, well Stewart apologizes so you can't be mad at him now." Trust me, Stewart doesn't mean a word of that apology. Stewart doesn't mean any of the good things he does. He just does it in hopes of having a better reputation. I don't give a <censored> that he apologized- that doesn't make up for ruining one driver's Chase hopes and the races of two drivers. They penalized him one lap for that- that's not harsh enough for Stewart anymore. They should be making him pull the car into the garage if this isn't going to stop.
