ArrayDAVIE, Fla. -- Quarterback Daunte Culpepper will play in the Miami Dolphins' preseason opener Saturday, less than 10 months after a serious knee injury ended his 2005 season, coach Nick Saban said Thursday.

When the Dolphins acquired Culpepper in March from the Minnesota Vikings, there were concerns he might not healthy for the start of the regular season. But he has participated in every training camp practice and received medical clearance to play Saturday against Jacksonville, Saban said.

"He has done everything in practice that he needs to do," Saban said. "And he wants to play."

Culpepper, who tore three ligaments in his right knee last October, was told then that his recovery could take a year or more.

Like Miami's other starters, Culpepper is expected to see only brief action in the first of four exhibition games. He'll be subject to his first contact since the injury.

Saban said the Dolphins' other quarterbacks will also play -- new backup Joey Harrington, Cleo Lemon and Brock Berlin.[/quote]
w0000ttttt!!!! This is great, I am definetly watching this game to see how he does. Hopefully he'll be our next Dan Marino except a better runner.
Yeah, I think it's great. Miami has never really had a good QB ever since Marino retired.
