I would expect the appeal to go through and have the penalty be 25 pts and $25,000. Rusty Wallace was going crazy on espn last night and brought up a good point, why would they do this when this is a serious health risk to the driver if the car would be involved in a crash... Just doesn't make any sense to me why this was 100 pts

I'm with CCP. 100 points, 100 grand, and a six week suspension for a crew chief for something that simple is nuts.

And yet it still gave him an unfair advantage over his competitors, even if he didn't know about it. If you fix the cap, it possibly changes the whole aerodynamics of the car. I'm a little confused over the whole situation. Was the missing cap noticeable? Because if that's the case then it should have been fixed during the race.

This is why I suggested that they should reduce the penalty to 25 points and $25,000. The fact is that it was an advantage, but I find it very hard to believe that this was intentional. There should be a difference in penalties between accidental and intentional.

It doesn't seem like a huge enough deal to me for that kind of punishment. Even if it was intentional, it's not that bad of a thing to do.
