Mark McGwire admits to taking steroids.

I think this helps him. If he never admitted, and got proven to use them, he could of just tainted himself more. Now that he has admitted this, he can come back next year being the hitting coach for the Cardinals and live his life. Sure, he won't get into the Hall of Fame, but he'll still be remembered. I think he did the smart thing to come out and admit it. I don't blame him, he played in the steroid era.

I think it's good he admitted this too but his Hall of Fame is now the Hall of Shame. Hopefully he will be an example to other athletes that want a shortcut to success.

Yeah. There's probably lots of others that do take steroids, that don't admit it or don't get caught. I think he was honest when he said he didn't use them to hit home runs, he used them to heal an injury. I do believe he still would of gotten pretty decent numbers, it's not like he was terrible then became amazing. Before the time span of 95-03 or something like that, his stats increased so there's room for debate there. He used to get 30 home runs a season, then he started hitting 50-60-70 in the era he took steroids, so it definitely did help him. I think his intention was to use it to heal injury.
